Robertson Family Pioneer Cemetery

Wooling Hill Memorial Estate

372 Barringo Road, New Gisborne, Vic

Advice has been received from a
concerned Robertson Descendant, that the cemetery fence,
which is in a state of disrepair, requires urgent attention.

In addition, the following comment has been received
from
Troy and Liddy Upfield,
current owners/managers of the Wooling Hill Estate.

“Having assessed the current fence we don’t believe
it would be worth trying to fix what is currently there
as the wood is rotted, and parts would need to be replaced.

We have had tried to source similar woods to replace
parts
however haven’t found anything.

We have an idea to use some of the better older wood to
build a structure of sorts, or short entry fence
and signage, to say this is the original wood…

Just an idea to keep some of the old fence as history”.

As it is in the considered best interest of descendants of
William and Marion (McGilchrist) Robertson
to ensure the condition of the family cemetery
is maintained as best as possible, a
quote
has been obtained to restore
the Cemetery Fence as near as possible to
its original condition in the near future.

Enquiries are underway in this regard with the
Macedon Ranges Shire Council,
which has the Cemetery on its Heritage Site Register,
as to what is required to comply with their Heritage Listing.

Information in this regard will be posted as it comes to hand.

Nothing however will take place in regard to the
Cemetery Fence without prior consultation with
Robertson Descendants

Hopefully with Council's approval and the assistance of
William and Marion Robertson’s descendants,
the
Cemetery Fence will be able to be restored as near
possible to its original condition, in the near future.

To this end, a Westpac Bank account,
W. Robertson Descendants Fence Restoration Fund
has been established to receive online
contributions from Robertson Descendants et al so inclined,
to assist in covering the cost of restoring the
Macedon Ranges Heritage Site Pioneer Cemeter
to as near as possible its original condition
and maintain
this early Victorian Pioneer site for the benefit of
today's and future descendants of
William and Marion (McGilchrist) Robertson.
